
Night had fallen when we reached Luxor, the temple was wonderfully illuminated. It must have looked princely when both obelisks stood in front of the pylon! One obelisk is missing - it was taken away and set where it now stands: Place de la Concorde in Paris. Look, the lights make this colossus ghostly but also ethereal, virtually weightless, it is as if the statue seems to say - 'I know a secret'.
