On an irregular basis, with different initiators and in various locations throughout Europe, Time to Meet brings together artists to jointly set up artistic, critical and/or curatorial projects. This collaborative and nomadic approach encourages and injects new ideas about photography into a wider artistic praxis of both the participating artists and the public. For Time to Meet, photography functions not merely as an objective but as a tool to activate the inherent stillness of the medium. The free and open exchange of positions is imperative, demonstrating a continuing adaptability to a progressive and ever-shifting medium. At the invitation of the artists initiative Voorkamer, Time to Meet lands in the provincial town of Lier and brings together 13 artists from different artistic and geographical backgrounds for the exhibition‚ Grain, Wood, Flax, Turf’. Since all of the contributors in this edition have participated in one or more previous projects with Time to Meet, this exhibition is also a reunion of artists whom been following each other for several years.
