hiStory on Thursday
Time
to Meet – Performances by Ohad Ben Shimon (IL/FR), Paulien Oltheten (NL) and
Ryan Rivadeneyra (US), in collaboration with Goran Galić and Gian-Reto Gredig
(in
English)
Thursday,

With
their ongoing video series «Guided Tours», artists Goran Galić/Gian-Reto Gredig
collect the oral histories that are being told on guided tours through cities
all over Europe. Next Thursday, the duo invites three international artists to
tell their very own oral histories in the context of the exhibition «hiStories
– Geschichte in Geschichten» at Helmhaus Zürich: For his contribution, Ohad Ben
Shimon (IL/FR) spends a number of days in Zurich and will present his «Zurich
Memoir», a new chapter in his ongoing «Diary» series: The artist for example
tells the story of his attempts to open a Swiss bank account. In «The Artist
Speaks» we look over Dutch artist Paulien Oltheten’s shoulders while she is
working with her image archive – telling her own stories connected to
individual photographs. In «E-Mails Concerning Happenings Considering
Photography» Ryan Rivadeneyra (US) concerns himself with the relationship
between performance and photography – and with the issue of historicizing live
moments.
All
artists involved are associated with «Time to Meet», an international platform
for artists dedicated to the investigation of the photographic practice.
